Ponder Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-06-07
Ponder is a mobile app that delivers one idea a day from public-domain works. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it.
What we collect
We collect only what the app needs to work.
Account identifiers. When you use Ponder, we create an anonymous user ID. If you later link a Google or Apple account, we receive your email address and display name from that provider. We never ask for your email address directly — it only arrives if you choose to link an account.
Profile data. You can optionally set a display name and upload a profile avatar. These are stored only if you provide them. Neither is required to use the app.
Interests. The interest categories you select during onboarding, so the app can tailor which ideas surface for you.
App activity. Your votes on ideas (wise or dumb), notes you write on ideas, which idea was assigned to you each day, and your device timezone. The timezone is used to deliver your daily idea at the right local time.
What we don't collect
We don't collect:
- Location data
- Contact lists
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA, GAID, or equivalents)
- Behavioral tracking or usage analytics
- Crash reports or diagnostic telemetry
- Any data from your camera, microphone, or files beyond a profile photo you voluntarily upload
We don't use tracking pixels, advertising SDKs, or third-party analytics.
Third-party services
Supabase. Your data is stored on Supabase (supabase.com), a cloud database provider. They host your profile, notes, votes, and activity history on our behalf under their own privacy policy. We have a data processing agreement with Supabase.
Anthropic. We use Anthropic's API (anthropic.com) to generate distilled summaries of public-domain ideas. This processing happens on our servers only. We don't send your notes, votes, display name, or any personal data to Anthropic — only the source text being summarized.
No other third parties receive your data.
How we use your data
We use your data to operate Ponder:
- Show you your daily idea and personal history
- Save and display your notes and votes
- Display your profile within the app
- Deliver daily reminders at your preferred time (only if you enable them)
We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers. We don't use it for any purpose beyond running the app.
Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. We don't automatically delete inactive accounts. If you delete your account, your data is removed immediately and permanently.
Your rights
Account deletion. You can delete your account at any time from Settings. This permanently removes your profile, display name, avatar, notes, votes, interest selections, and idea history. It cannot be undone.
Access and correction. You can update your display name and avatar in Settings at any time. For other requests — such as a copy of your data or correction of something not editable in the app — email us at [email protected].
We strive to honor rights available under applicable privacy laws, including the rights provided by GDPR and CCPA. We don't currently operate a formal compliance portal, but we'll respond to reasonable requests at the address above.
Children
Ponder is not directed at children under 13, or under 16 in the European Union. We don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone below these ages. If you believe a child has created an account, contact [email protected] and we'll delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the effective date at the top of this document. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
